The best eco hand and nail care to take you through the season

For beautifully cared-for, glam party hands, look no further.

There are some great hand and nail products on the market that use natural ingredients, avoid suspect additives and keep the quality.

This season, greys and purples are the nail colours to be seen in. They’re versatile, and take you from day to night in an instant. Zoya offer some great shades (£9.25 from www.lucyrose.biz). They have a sparkly silver that goes by the name of ‘trixie’, perfect for any party. ‘Marry’ is a gorgeous berry purple that will brighten up any grey day, and has a metallic sheen to it to add extra glam.

If the bright purples are a bit too much for you, butter London has some calmer alternatives (£9.79 from www.strawberryandcream.com). Despite the name, their ‘scoundrel’ shade is a purple closer to lavender, and will keep you in tune with the season without stepping out of your comfort zone. The festively named ‘fairy lights’ is a sparkly pale pink that is sure to compliment any party dress.

If wallflower isn’t for you, then try ‘perfect pressie’. It’s a deep, metallic red that is sure to get you noticed. ‘Rosie Lee’ is a cute, pink glitter to add a bit of fun, and ‘British racing green’ will ensure you are a perfect match for the Christmas tree. My personal favourite from Zoya is ‘creamy’, a pale yellow that isn’t far away from lemon curd, and offers a yummy alternative to the season’s colours.

With all the different shades, it’s important to keep your hands in tip top condition. Changing colours so often needs to be quick and easy, and Mezaya offers a nail polish remover, free from all those nasty bits (£12.95 from www.toxicfreeboutique.com). Their glass nail files are guaranteed to stand the test of time and keep nails nice and shapely.

To prep your paws and keep skin at its best use Yes to Carrots Pampering Hand and Nail Spa (£9.99). It’s got a lovely smell and really will refresh your hands and keep your skin healthy and soft. Available nationwide from Debenhams, www.debenhams.com.

Burt’s Bees have a lemon butter cuticle crème that is as much fun to smell as it is to use (£5.86 from www.burtsbees.co.uk). In a handy tin, you can just pop it in your bag and use on the go. Spa Ritual has a great  cuti-cocktail nail and cuticle oil that will do the job in one (£8.95 from www.lucyrose.biz).

Everyone knows there’s no point having shapely nails in gorgeous colours if your hands are dry. One of the best creams on the market is Hand Relief from Aveda (£5.14 from www.aveda.co.uk). A pea sized amount will hydrate your hands for the day, and it comes in a generous tube so is money well spent.

The cherry on top has to be a good cocktail ring. Ella Georgia Jewellery has some great pieces (www. ellageorgiajewellery.co.uk). Their gold plated ‘Lucas Jack’ cocktail ring hits the spot, and comes in a variety of colours to compliment any nail shade. Wear Fair have a selection of brightly coloured, patterned rings to give your hands some extra zing (www.wearfair.co.uk).

  2. Hi Nicole
Great to hear we have readers in Canada. Can I suggest you try contacting the companies mentioned in the article and see if they post abroad? There may well be outlets in Canada that sell them too so worth searching on the net I think.
    Hope this helps.
    Best wishes
