‘World’s first 1 hour wash and wear’ tan

And it's got an 'Ecocert'! But does it work?

Bronzed perfection

Bronzed perfection

The brochure says: ’Liquid Sun Velocity is a revolutionary new tanning formula which develops rapidly to deliver an even, exotic looking tan in just 1 hour!’

Read on and the news gets even better - it works with certified organic DHA and other natural ingredients, using what the manufacturer describes as ‘Quad Bronzing Technology’. This quad of ingredients includes DHA, erythrulose, black walnut and instant bronzers.

It’s made by Vani-T, a company that makes products ‘with a high natural and organic ingredient content’ and recyclable packaging. Velocity is also loaded with stuff to benefit the skin including botanical extracts of kakadu plum, quandong, cehami, anti aging vitamin A and essential oils and an odour inhibitor.

It sounded too good to be true – no need to sleep in it and end up with bright orange sheets. My rep Kelly also told me that, unlike other spray tans, it wouldn’t cling to dry patches either. This was a major bonus to me as every spray tan I’ve ever had has left me with tangoed knees.

Even when it fades, it’s claimed that it does so more evenly than other tans.

But did it live up to the hype? In a word, yes. I couldn’t believe how natural the colour looked and how even the coverage was. The rep didn’t need to apply cream to my drier patches before spraying and the colour did not cling. The spraying itself only took about 20 minutes.

The idea is that you leave it on for one hour for a light tan, two for medium and three for a deep colour. I left mine on for two, hoping for more of a Jennifer Aniston look than a Katie Price. My rep told me that the colour continues to develop for 24 hours after the initial application.

The end result for me was a sunkissed, natural-looking glow that really lasted.

As for fading, they recommended using Vani-T’s bronzing custard to help prolong the tan. This did the job well, was a doddle to apply, and in the end the tan lasted longer than the seven days claimed.

Velocity is definitely now my tanning treatment of choice.

I had my Velocity tan done at Jesmond Beauty Clinic, Newcastle upon Tyne. Normally priced at £27, they are offering Daisy readers £10 off the Velocity tan until 2 January 2010. Simply quote ‘Daisy’ and mention the discount when you book. (Discount not valid in conjunction with any other offer.)
