Detoxing my life

The start of my new life...trying something a wee bit different!

This month is all about detoxing and de-cluttering our lives. Given that we have all spent the last few weeks writing about it, I thought that I should get on and do it! I am not a fan of New Year’s resolutions (although I make them anyway) as they generally last about four days.

This time though, they aren’t short term resolutions - more lifelong commitments to change.

I am a lucky girl. I have a great life. I am happily married, relatively healthy and have fabulous friends and family. Why change my life?

Well, my first resolution is to change career and develop a more normal work/life balance. Working on Daisy Green can no longer take second place (not that she ever really has!) but demands to come first. Running my own business and working from home is an exhilarating prospect but somewhat terrifying at the same time.

Second must be organisation. Over the last three months my home has looked like a permanent jumble sale. My clothes and bags have frequently lived on the floor and my paperwork has been strewn, well, everywhere. Working at home will give me the opportunity to sort myself out. And stick to it!

Clearing out my unwanted clothes comes next. Determined as I am not to buy anything I don’t really need, I am having a clear out. Reading Krista’s article has prompted me to become my own Wardrobe Mistress. It will be great to go to my wardrobe and know that I can pick something out that will a. always fit me and b. suit my shape. Most of my clear out will be donated to the Daisy Green Swishing Party at the end of this month. It’s a perfect excuse to pick up more clothes to fill up all that lovely new space I will have created!

Exercise. I must do some. No more excuses. My plan is thus: walk up to the local recycling point and recycle all the plastic bottles that my council doesn’t collect (note to self must talk to them about that) therefore keeping fit and keeping on top of the recycling too.

It’s a plan and already in action.

  1. Good luck Nicola !!

I gave up making new years resolutions a couple of years ago, as I realised that I just put myself under preasure and then get down in the dumps when I fail ! So I now say ‘This year I am going to try………..’

So…….. This year I am going to try to be more organised in all aspects of my life and hope that by doing that I can give myself a kick start into doing some of the, many other things that I want to do.
