Brighten up your neighbourhood

Take a look at this picture and bathe in the golden sunshiney glory coming from those daffodils.

This is NOT a part of Daisy Cottages, but it is the grass verge outside our house. I have started my guerrilla gardening life by carefully venturing out into the soil in front of our house. If you look around semi-rural/urban England you’ll find that many people do this anyway, without realising that they are secret Guerrilla Gardeners. The most common thing that people do is mow the grass outside their houses, but some go further by planting bedding plants and naturalising bulbs.

Naturalising is planting informal spots of many bulbs, among other, plants or underneath grass. With time, the bulbs multiply and spread into a spectacular display of flowers with minimal work and minimal damage to your budget. I’ve also taken to planting crocusses (crocii?) and snowdrops around there too.

I am now thinking of planting some bulbs in the grass verge on the other side of the road to give us, (and everyone else) something nice to look at as they walk up the street. Generally this kind of guerrilla gardening does really brighten up the place and its becoming quite popular in urban areas to the point where larger scale guerrilla gardens are actually becoming community projects.
