I am addicted…
to wedding magazines and it really has to stop
Nov 12th, 2008When I got to New Zealand in December 2007 after the proposal in Fiji I found a Borders Book Shop and bought my first wedding magazine, a notebook and pen.
I then sat down in their coffee shop for about 4 hours. I coveted that magazine, almost loving it and stroking it (not literally). Well it was my first excuse to buy one of those ‘in the club’ magazines. I even remember walking around with the cover facing outwards hoping someone would ask if I was getting married. An obvious question really.
I was totally absorbed in the entire contents, and this hasn’t changed although the momentum of buying these magazines has really slowed over the last couple of months.
Wedding magazines make everything seem very accessible, are filled with ideas that you would never have thought of but instantly think you need. The dresses stating Price on Application always scare me a little.
What is worse I don’t even need these magazines. We know what type of wedding we would and most of the information and inspiration that I need is online. So from now on, no more wedding magazines, well I’m going to try.
If you too are inflicted with this addiction try the following wedding site Green Union it’s a site I stumbled upon and I am very happy I did. The ethics behind Daisy Green Magazine and Green Union which can be seen from the following line extracted from the Green Union website;
We don’t expect you to be perfectly ethical or eco. And we certainly don’t expect you to compromise on quality or design. We do believe doing one good thing is better than doing nothing at all.
I look forward to meeting Rosie Ames founder of Green Union in the near future.
