William Vintage, the London-based company specialising in rare vintage and couture clothing, is holding their first sale in Scotland on 4 July at Oran Mor in Glasgow as a part of the Say No to Plastic Vintage, Charity & Craft Summer Sale.

WilliamVintage is known as one of the leading vintage companies in London with an A-list following that includes Grammy-winning popstars, supermodels and previous winners of both US and UK ‘Business Woman of the Year’.

Founder of WilliamVintage, William Banks-Blaney, is an internationally recognised interior designer who counts Oprah Winfrey, Lynda Carter and Cathy Dennis amongst his clientele. After studying under the National Trust and English Heritage as a part of his degree, William worked for The Antiques Roadshow’s John Bly and also Princess Margaret’s son, Viscount Linley, for many years. Having helped his interiors clients with their sartorial dilemmas, William established WilliamVintage to great acclaim and is now regarded as a cult luxury vintage company.

William says, “So few vintage clothing companies today have any sense of editing, so it is like walking into a crazed department store rather than a relaxed boutique. I would rather sell the pieces that I personally adore, which can seamlessly combine with contemporary fashion, and are offered in a friendly, knowledgeable and honest way. WilliamVintage is vintage clothing for contemporary living.”

In an interview and photoshoot in the May edition of Tatler, William Banks-Blaney was credited with possessing: ‘A fashion historians understanding…combined with the contemporary eye of a stylist’

The WilliamVintage sale will feature exquisite vintage pieces perfect for discovered by founder William Banks-Blaney from around the world. The Sale will include couture Balmain, Courreges, Dior and rare collections of original Ossie Clarks, Madame Gres and Jean Desses (as worn by Kristin Davis to the SATC premiere, Renee Zellweger when collecting her Oscar and many others) and pieces by other iconic designers.

The event runs from 12 til 5pm and entry is £1.

International green event at Berlin Fashion Week, 8-10 July 2010

THEKEY.TO is the international event for Green Fashion, sustainable lifestyle and culture and part of the Berlin Fashion Week.

THEKEY.TO was launched in July 2009 and now has closed the lines with the other Berlin fairs and Bread & Butter. In winter 2010, THEKEY.TO presented more than 50 exhibitors to a significant clientele of 3,000 retailers, journalists and interested enthusiasts.

A central concern of the fair is the presentation of sustainable design on an international level produced in a socially responsible way. This ‘key position. also concerns future-oriented culture inseminated through the THEKEY.TOACADEMY—a high-quality programming of seminars and workshops.

THEKEY.TO celebrates its first anniversary as part of the Berlin Fashion Week.

Under the motto ACCELERATION the third edition of the fair will take place at the impressive location Postbahnhof between Mitte, Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain, from 8th to 10th July 2010.

In step with the Green Movement THEKEY.TO will also grow: a freshly designed area for lifestyle products, a glamorous catwalk show and the comprehensive seminar and workshop program THEKEY.TOACADEMY are just a few of the new features awaiting visitors this summer.

In ACCELERATION towards a higher level of sophistication, THEKEY.TO will offer fashion hungry visitors an exceptional fashion show. It will feature the most spectacular and most innovative designers of the fair proving that the fashion and eco avant-garde can be fused in one product.

On top of that, the fashion areas “MAGAZINE” and “BAKERY” of the fair’s last edition will be extended with an extra wing of the

POSTBAHNHOF – the GALLERY – dedicated to the most innovative lifestyle ideas: from sustainable furniture, home accessories and up-cycled product design to personal gadgets and e-transport.

Continuing with the cultural program of the past editions, the fair in cooperation with the Grass Routes association will present the THEKEY.TOACADEMY this summer: a six-day cultural platform dealing with sustainability for professionals.

Top-class international speakers have been invited to examine the most important aspects of sourcing, production, certification, CSR, branding, marketing, retail, social business and financing. Frans Prins outlines the event: “With the THEKEY.TOACADEMY we will provide a discursive space for new ways of thinking and living where one can acquire information, network and develop further.

By choosing the motto we were inspired to raise the question of a green acceleration. A special emphasis lies on debating sustainability goals and if the applied methods are acceptable in order to achieve them.”

The event runs from 8 – 10 July 2010, Professionals and Press: 11 am to 7 pm (Saturday, July 10, only until 5 pm) at POSTBAHNHOF am OSTBAHNHOF, Strasse der Pariser Kommune 8, 10243 Berlin. 16/17, 10997 Berlin – Germany.
One day workshops from Green Shoes, South Devon, July-Nov 2010 dates

Green Shoes, one of the UK’s leading ethical footwear and accessory companies, will be running a new series of shoemaking workshops in beautiful South Devon.

Thess fun one day workshops are a unique opportunity to learn traditional skills from the professionals.

They are suitable for complete beginners and gives all the support, tuition and materials you need to make your very own pair of shoes or sandals, in just one day, to take home and love for a long time.

For unique style and total comfort, you use a natural crepe sole and then choose the colour, style and type of leather you want. Classes are kept very small so that there is at least one shoemaker to every four students to ensure shoes are well-made.

The Green Shoes workshop is within a converted old mill on the banks of the River Dart which flows from the heights of Dartmoor. The closest town to the workshop is Buckfastleigh and the bohemian Totnes is just four miles away.

This workshop is the perfect highlight to a wonderful holiday or short break in the South Hams.

The course costs £175. This includes:

a full day of expert tuition,

your own pair of simple, stylish shoes or sandals to take away

materials to decorate your shoes.

Fairtrade tea and coffee, and delicious organic biscuits and cakes will be provided but students will need to bring their own packed lunch.

The dates for the workshops are:
