Celebrate Summer in the Cotswolds with Daylesford Organic.

The farm shop in Daylesford will play host to a special event aiming to give visitors a chance to learn more about home growing from the experts.

Monty Don will be there chairing The farm School Question Time, where visitors can take part in a 60 minute Q&A session. During the day you can learn how to grow, rear and find food and then how to create a low cost, delicious, healthy meal at home.

There will also be demonstrations of artisan crafts and essential skills for sustainable living plus Practical Organic Farm School demonstrations throughout the day, for children and adults including:

• Growing your own – a demonstration with Jez Taylor, a Market Gardener.
• Cooking with wild foods with Vladimir Niza, a Cookery School chef.
• Foraging – harvest wild foods during a farm tour with Tim Field, an ecologist.
• An introduction to hen keeping and small holding, with Richard Smith, the farmer.
• Butchering and cooking meat, with Jon the butcher.
• An introduction to beekeeping with our local apiarist, Tanya Hawkes.
• Cheese making – a demonstration and tasting with our creamery team.

Other interactive events throughout the day include:

• Children’s events, with competition judging and prize giving by Monty Don:
• ‘have a go’ seed planting area for children;
• a ‘spring posy’ competition;
• ‘milk the cow’ competition;
• Scavenging hunt…
• A seed swap event
• See the livestock: Cotswold lambs, Gloucester calves, Aberdeen Angus calves, chicks, ducklings on display at the farmshop entrance.
• Farm, wildlife & foraging tour on a trailer, including a sheepdog demonstration from Richard, our farm manager.
• Demonstrations from the local artisan craftsman: hedgelayers, willow weavers, bulrush weavers, and bees wax candle makers.
• Local Slow Food producers market, including spring cheeses and wild foods.
