Christmas Eco Fair
4 - 6 December, Royal Geographical Society, South Kensington
The first ever Christmas Eco Fair at the Royal Geographical Society, South Kensington, will offer a great opportunity to buy Christmas presents with an ethical edge.
Expect to see a wide range of contemporary, eco-friendly and quirky products from all over the world ranging from designer luxury to pocket money purchases.
The lovely ethical goodies include gifts that interweave ethics, luxury and allure such as Aspara’s exclusive eco line of accessories, created with rich hand-spun silks, which are ethically produced in Cambodia by small silk weaving communities, organic cosmetics by Ruby Red and Shea Alchemy, fairtrade wallets and travel accessories by Aura Que, luxury throws created by the Panchachuli co-operative in India as well as lots of quirky recycled gifts.
The event will also feature beautiful ethical clothing and jewellery, such as gorgeous womenswear by Kokonor, cuddly alpaca woollens from Toft Alpaca’s British herd, as well as a great selection of organic children’s clothing and babywear.
This fair is not just for adults it is sure to appeal to children to as it features a variety of children’s activities. These include a FREE children’s eco puppet theatre at 2pm on Saturday 5 December when Theatre Rotto, one of the UK’s most inspiring puppet companies, will perform their show, Forest of Fables. An unravelling of ancient tales from Aesop brought to life with puppets, music and the imagination – the show has an underlying green thread and all the puppets are created from recycled materials.
The Eco Fair is free to visit and open to all from Saturday 5 December 9.30 – 5 and Sunday 6 December 10 til 4 and refreshments will be available. The main entrance is on Exhibition Road, at the Kensington Gore end, with the nearest tube, South Kensington.
