This October, the National Geographic Store in London is supporting The Prince’s Rainforests Project (PRP) by hosting a free photo exhibition, Rainforests: The Burning Issue, in its Regent Street store.

The exhibition will run from Monday 26 October until Sunday 22 November 2009 and will display a collection of striking rainforest imagery taken by famous wildlife photographer Daniel Beltrá. Imagery will also be displayed of some of the project’s well-known supporters including Hollywood stars Harrison Ford and Robin Williams.

The exhibition is being held as part of the PRP’s Rainforest SOS Campaign. The public is being asked to show their support to stop rainforest deforestation by sending an SOS in the form of their name and an optional short message.

This message is to demonstrate the level of public support for action to be taken to stop rainforest destruction because of the impact of the burning of forests on climate change. The powerful images in the National Geographic Store exhibition highlight the beauty of the rainforest and aim to encourage members of the public to sign up to the campaign to save this precious world resource.

The National Geographic Store exhibition will also encourage visitors to view the Focus on the Rainforest exhibition at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, which runs until 6 December. The exhibit features more of Daniel Beltrá’s stunning photography, augmented by a selection of sounds, projections, videos and even smells, so that visitors to the exhibition will be treated to a uniquely full interactive sensory experience.

The National Geographic Store is at 83-97 Regent Street, London W1B 4EW. For more information, visit www.nglondonstore.co.uk
