Something good happened
Lupe Castro reports from the front line at London Fashion Week
The Fashion for Diversity show started somewhere in the depths of Shoreditch … cut to the crowd – a mix of high glamour and office kit.
Hmmm no well known faces hmmm. But I just knew that something good was going to happen.
Then I spied a commotion in the corner. It was the triplets from Junky Styling - Anni, Kerri and Kurt. Glass in hand I charged over and bagsied a VIP seat right by them.
They were being presented with a long overdue award so were there for the show. They also put some of their guys range on the catwalk which was amazing with zips going terribly far south.. naughty!
I knew they had men’s range but this was GOOD!
It was also good that Choolips was showing her summer sun collection which included some stunning pants. And 21 Things I Love had a really gorgeous see through gossamer top. Boy do those women know how to do blouses?
Then it happened. My new little discovery. A two girl team going by the name of Artizina. They are cousins and have a Morrocan heritage, they gather unusual fabrics trimmings and vintage fashions from the many souks and markets they have visited with passion since they were children and then translate them into shapes and styles of the 21st century. Artizinas suppliers are paid double the local minimum wage.
They have a collection of one off vintage garments for sale as well as offering a bespoke service… but it was the short day dresses that were stunning and Moorish!
And so on trend for SS10.
