Was this the UK’s biggest ever swish?
London clothes swapping marathon attracts thousands
Apr 20th, 2009DaisyGreenMagazine.co.uk and stylist Lupe Castro are exhausted but exhilarated after hosting what may have been the UK’s biggest ever clothes swapping event.
Thousands turned up for a thrilling marathon of six swishes held at London’s Olympia 2 as part of the UKaware green event. The swish was originally going to incorporate four sessions, but demand was so great the number was increased to six.
‘The response was phenomenal.‘ said Nicola Alexander, founder of DaisyGreenMagazine.co.uk. ‘We had girls bringing suitcases full of clothes, including some really gorgeous items. People went away very happy indeed.’
Clothes swapping, otherwise known as swishing, is swiftly becoming a new craze, as the credit crunch bites and people grow tired of buying clothes from shops that are reported to be putting profits before ethics.
‘This is just a brilliant way to update your wardrobe and have a fun night out. It’s amazing what you can find at a swish!‘ said Nicola.
