No rubbish wrapping
Inspiration for pretty pressies
Christmas wrapping paper: ever so lovely on the day but where does it end up?
Landfill of course. So the Daisy team came up with some alternative wrapping ideas which look just as pretty as normal wrap.
- Recycled Christmas wrapping paper - available from Oxfam, Traidcraft and many others. Just read the label before you buy.
- Material – the blue stars kerchief in this image is from the Greengivingco.com but any pretty fabric would do.
- Used tissue paper – the black tissue paper protected my lovely Pure Candle in a past life.
- Newspaper – for large items in cardboard boxes this would be ideal and actually looks really cool if you can cope with the dirty hands when you open it!
- Pages from used magazines and comics – children would love their presents wrapped in their favourite cartoon characters.
- Patchwork – all those little bits left over used to make a patch work of wrapping paper.
- Brown paper – hand decorated makes very personal wrapping.
- Children’s drawings – ask your children to draw lots of Christmas pictures on scrap paper for family presents.
All the ribbons in this image were rescued from Christmas last year and have been re used for birthdays too!
Remember to ask your family to keep anything that could be reused next year which ultimately will save you money.

Fab ideas, there’s just no need for brand new wrapping, is there? I’ve written a few more ideas if you want to check them out http://good.ly/tf7z3
Don’t forget that not all presents need to be to be wrapped.
I know for a fact that not all of Santa’s gifts left at our house will be wrapped this year:)
…I’m sure that they will be loved just as much as the one’s that have paper.

As kids, we’d always leave a pillowcase out for Santa. We all knew which one was ours (and so did he!), they were much bigger than stockings so all of our pressies would fit, and the fabric would fall back to hide the gifts left in which made it really exciting.
They weren’t bought specially so we used them all year round, didn’t have to store them, and we could always find them the next year so no need to buy replacements!
