Sweet cheeks at both ends

Annie Jones reviews Bria Organics

In a previous installment I wrote about my love of the home crafted product.

Something that has been made with a bit of TLC and not mass produced in a factory. And Bria Organics is exactly the sort of thing I’m on about.

‘Bria Organics began as a mother’s labour of love to find an effective treatment for her baby boy’s eczema.’

The pretty glass pots and phials of delicately scented baby ungents are lovingly created in a home in Newcastle. There is a gentle sense of humour in the name: the baby range is called Sweet Cheeks, but it does exactly what it says on the tin (or jar in this case).

Whilst we were away recently LO’s undercarriage started looking a little bit sore. I think it was the horrid disposables that I’d had to use as we had no access to a washing machine to use re-useables and couldn’t find eco disposables in the local shops. Poor planning on my part.

She doesn’t like a soggy botty at the best of times, who does, but now it was really quite uncomfortable, possibly from the chemicals in the nappy. Fortunately I had packed the Sweet Cheeks. Although it’s an odd texture, almost granular when you first get a fingerful, it warms up and smooths out on the skin to a silky balm.

And it worked really quickly. Within a day redness disappeared from both ends as LO became less squirmy and happy and full of smiles.

I sort of knew that Bria’s bum ointment would do the trick as the other products had been so successful. I love the words: ‘moist towelette’ but want to try and avoid using them. What I use instead is a little square of fabric and a squirt of Sweet Cheeks cleansing spray. Mmmmm. It’s gentle fragrance makes LO smell soooo gorgeous. Like a delicate little flower. With floral waters and essential oils it is safe to use on all of her skin.

The delightful bottle of Snuggly Soft Body and Bath Oil was also really useful when a couple of patches of dry skin appeared after a bath (washing up bowl!!!) in water that’s really hard. It was great for LO’s leggies but worked on my scratchy old mitts too. It doesn’t have much of a fragrance but it works, unlike some other products that are all smell and no trouser, if you know what I mean.

As Bria says on the website, www.briaorganics.co.uk, she tested her products on babies and adults and found it worked. Although LO squeaks like a rodent at times her skin has nothing in common with Roland and his chums so it’s reassuring that these products have been tried out on actual people. Similarly the 100% organic ingredients add to the security of using a product that is natural and real.

Bria sells other products for grown ups on the website but you can also contact them direct for other yummy products. That’s the other lovely thing; a person who can talk to you about what they make. Fabulous.
