Peak Princess

Children's dresses, lovingly made by hand

Until last year, Lissa Cook was a radio producer making documentaries for networks like BBC Five Live, World Service and Radio 1.

Before that she spent five years producing and editing BBC Radio 4’s flagship political news and current affairs programmes; The World at One, PM and The World this Weekend.

Now she is the MD of Peak Princess (www.peakprincess.co.uk), specialists in beautiful baby and girls dresses, hand made from Liberty prints.

Lissa explains, ‘We moved up to the Peak District from London two years ago. Last spring I took a career break and was sitting in the park with my god-daughter, Tilly, and realised there was a gap in the market for good quality girls’ dresses in beautiful fabrics and prints.

‘It’s been a radical career change but perhaps not as left-field an idea as it might seem as my Mum was a dress designer who had her designs featured in Vogue in the 60s. My grandmother was a milliner and my great-grandfather was a bespoke shoe-maker so there’s obviously something in the genes! I grew up sewing but until recently never considered it as a career.’

Currently designing her autumn/winter Liberty range, Lissa has been overwhelmed by the popularity of her unique and pretty creations, and, to keep up with demand, is working on a boys’ range, called Peak Prince.

Each of these beautiful dresses are made from a Liberties print, available in a wide range of ages and are priced between £19.99 – £49.99.
