The ‘ultimate green wedding venue’ opens its doors

The Eden Project gets a marriage licence

Jan 7th, 2010

A wedding venue with a difference

Couples dreaming of a luscious rainforest backdrop for their wedding, but don’t want the carbon footprint of flying to the tropics, can now tie the knot in the unique surroundings of the Eden Project.

The Eden Project offers couples the chance to wed in its famous grounds whilst keeping it green and avoiding some of inevitable stress. The Project boats that there isn’t one part of the day that won’t be green.

A professional in-house events and hospitality team are on-hand to organise a day that ticks the right ethical boxes, including the cake, flowers, wedding favours, and a seasonal banquet with, of course, a strong focus on locally-produced food.

Memorable photo locations include the Rainforest Biome’s tumbling waterfall, its secluded Malaysian Hut and the Mediterranean Biome after-dark, where reflecting lights create the illusion of thousands of stars. And if that doesn’t do it for you, then you can say your vows overlooking the famous dome itself.

Eden Events and Hospitality Manager, Di Hall, said: “It is truly amazing seeing the look on people’s faces when I show them the unique venues for the first time.”

Eden’s eco credentials include composting food waste, recycling, harvesting rainwater to irrigate the Biomes and flush the toilets, and producing renewable power on site.
