Top chefs and hip hotels gear up for Chocolate Week
Divine vows to make it the best one yet
Oct 7th, 2009Chocolate Week is going from strength to strength, and Divine Chocolate is promising the best one yet.
Divine, the company co-owned by cocoa farmers, is co-sponsoring this nationwide celebration of fine chocolate and has lined up a plethora of delicious events up and down the country giving us the perfect excuse to indulge in one of our favourite pastimes.
The Week officially runs from 12 – 18 October.
Top chocolatiers and chocolate companies are creating a programme of total chocolate indulgence, and Divine, along with a host of partners, has some really special experiences lined up and exclusive new recipes to share.
Divine Chocolate has sponsored national Chocolate Week since it began six years ago when it was launched in collaboration with the Academy of Chocolate.
This year Divine has asked celebrities, top chefs and restaurateurs to come up with their perfect Divine chocolate pudding recipe exclusively for Chocolate Week. The list includes:
- Two-Michelin star chef Michael Caines with his Chocolate Tart with Coffee Anglaise & Crème Chantilly
- Multi-award winning chef and television star Jean Christophe Novelli with his Little Chocolate Fondant Pudding
- TV chef Alan Coxon who recently presented the BBC2 series Ever Wondered About Food with his Chocolate Pudding with Hot Cherry Sauce
- Saturday Kitchen favourite Jun Tanaka with his Rich Chocolate Pudding
- Renowned baking and chocolate expert Linda Collister with her Hazelnut Sponge Pudding with Creamy Chocolate Sauce
- Young chef Sam Stern whose fifth cookery book for students is due out early next year with his Triple Chocolate Soufflés

Michael Caines is an avid supporter of Divine and his Divine Chocolate Tart will be on the menu at each of his hotels and restaurants during Chocolate Week. Michael says,
I love working with and supporting Divine Chocolate as they are a farmer-owned Fairtrade company and all their products use natural flavourings which are perfect for making great tasting recipes.
Couture cake-maker to the stars (everyone from Madonna to David Beckham to the Queen) Mich Turner has created a Divine Chocolate and Raspberry Truffles recipe and loves to cook with Divine.
Hotels are also lining up to join in. The exclusive Divinitini cocktail inspired by and using Divine will be on offer at the chic Sanderson Hotel in London’s West End.
At famous hotel The Gore in Kensington, just a stone’s throw from the Albert Hall, guests will receive a Divine gold coin which they can they use to have two-for-one on Divine chocolate martinis. At the Lancaster London which looks over Hyde Park a Chocolate Tree in the lobby will be made using hundreds of mini Divine chocs.
These are just a few of the many indulgent events planned. Like we need an excuse to eat chocolate…

Stratford-upon-Avon had a chocolate week where many restaurants clubbed together to make a chocolate trail, where you could try different desserts and then vote for the best chocolate dessert in town. It was definately the best £1/person we ever spent!
