Support the Woodland Trust campaign this Christmas
If everyone in the UK recycles just one Christmas card with the Woodland Trust this year, they will be able to plant 15,000 trees.
The recycling scheme is supported by many of our best loved celebrities.
Joanna Lumley, the Absolutely Fabulous actress, said:
Christmas is a great time for celebrations and being with our families, but we do end up creating more waste. A simple way to help reduce this and help tackle climate change at the same time is to recycle as much as possible and Christmas cards are one of the easiest items to keep out of our bins
Samia Smith, who plays Maria Connor in Coronation Street is also backing the campaign.
Over one billion Christmas cards will be sent this year, which is a huge amount! If everyone recycled just one card it would help the Woodland Trust plant 15,000 trees, so remember to support the Woodland Trust Christmas Card Recycling Scheme and take your cards to WHSmith, Tesco, TK Maxx or Marks and Spencer stores to be recycled.
The public’s efforts last year helped collect 73.6 million cards, bringing the Christmas Card Recycling Scheme’s 12 year total to 600 million cards recycled. This has enabled the Woodland Trust to plant 141,000 trees, save 12,000 tonnes of paper from going to landfill, and stop 16,000 tonnes of CO2 from going into the atmosphere – the equivalent of taking more than 5,000 cars off the road for a year.
Such a simple thing to do for such a brilliant result!
