‘England’s most exclusive pink fizz’

But is it worthy of the Christmas Day table?

Balfour Brut Rose

‘England’s most exclusive Pink Fizz’, Balfour Brut Rosé is grown on Hush Heath Estate from three classic Champagne varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.

Being an absolute fan of anything fizzy – even better – pink and fizzy, I was absolutely delighted to sample this beautiful Balfour Brut Rose. I have been searching for an English alternative to a very well known Australian fizz for months and was delighted when the Balfour landed on my doorstep magnificently presented in its box.

The vineyard where Balfour Brut Rose is produced is hidden from the world by an area of ancient woodland. Here, the fine soils, mild climate and long history of fruit growing, has made the Weald of Kent home to the finest vineyards planted in the UK in the last 50 years.

Richard Balfour-Lynn, producer says “My aim is to make the finest Rosé Sparkling Wine, comparable with the great Rosé Champagnes. The passion and enthusiasm by everyone involved with Balfour Brut Rosé has led to us winning a number of prestigious international awards.”

Well I absolutely loved this fizz. In my book it was even better than champagne. Mr Daisy and I, slowly sipped away, light bubbles bursting in our mouths alongside refreshing zing. Not being a strict wine connoisseur, I will leave it to the experts to describe…

The palest of pinks (old fashioned rose) the style is youthful and refreshing, the nose is clean and complex, hints of redcurrant, strawberry, pear and hazelnut on the palate. Crisp, English acidity with a fine and prolonged mousse.

Made in the UK,  Balfour Brut Rose is definitely one for any special occasion.

Available from Waitrose and Marks and Spencer for £34.99 in a beautiful presentation case.
